Update on Daddy

I just wanted to update everyone on how Daddy is doing. While he is still in a coma, he is starting to try to wake up. Today he opened his eyes just a little. He did go into total renal failure late Sat, but as of this morning his kidney function was great! They have been able to greatly reduce what drugs and machines are doing for him. While the Dr's are still cautious, I feel that we are way past the worst.
Thank you so much for everyone's good thoughts and prayer. Daddy can be a proud guy, and sometimes he forgets to tell people how important they are to him, but I know he is grateful for all the support. The outpouring has been astounding. It re enforces my belief that people are inherently good and kind.
Thank You (seems to small but it is all I have) I hope everyone will keep Zulu in their thoughts. We need to find her. I know that Daddy would not have survived this without her. She was his guardian angle and we need her home.

Update

We just spoke with the Dr and are waiting to see Daddy. The short of it is that for what he has been through he is doing surprisingly well. He is suffering from hypothermia, but does not seem to have any other serious injuries. Will update more latter.

Additional Details On Finding Bob

Bob had walked quite away from where he was originally hiking.  He had wandered out on to a ranchers land about fifteen miles south of the southern most area the search and rescue team had searched.  Just yesterday his daughter Paige had been driving in the very area where he was found, but they weren't searching that area, as it was nowhere near where Bob had been hiking.  The rancher found Bob, who still had his dog Zulu with him.  Bob is being air lifted to an El Paso hospital for evaluation and care.  Once more details about his current state and recovery are known, they will be posted here.

He's Been Found Alive!

They just found Bob alive, he had wandered onto some rancher's property and they found him walking.  He's in pretty bad shape and they are rushing him to the hospital, but the unthinkable has happened.  He survived!

Please continue to pray as the doctors and nurses work to help him recover from this.  I can only say that the prayers of all of you are greatly appreciated.  To survive six days in the wilderness without food, shelter or much clothing is impossible without the help of God.

Friday - Search Continued Until Dark Yesterday

Searchers continued as late as possible yesterday looking for any signs of Bob, but have found nothing concrete.  It was unclear if they would continue the search today.  Here are what the local papers have published:

Wen

Today the searchers covered the entire length of trail that we believe Dad was hiking. They also covered all trails that connected off or were near this trail. They found no signs. The footprints that gave us so much hope yesterday turned out to be from a dog team that had been out the day before. There were 7 teams total plus two helicopters. The search was ended at sundown but will resume in force tomorrow. There will be troops from nearby Fort Bliss as well as National Guard and search and rescue teams from across two states.

The outlook at this point is very bleak. There have been no signs of Dad or the dog. I do not know if they will continue the search beyond tomorrow and more snow is expected Friday night.

Possible Tracks In Snow

A search and rescue chopper spotted tracks in the snow, which they believe to be Bob's.  They are sending a team into that area to look for him, but it will take them about 45 minutes to reach the area.  The moon is out and the reflection on the snow is keeping things well lit and the searchers will continue through the night looking for him.  The winds have picked up and they are unable to use the helicopter at this time, but if they subside, they will put the chopper back up and use the infrared camera to scan the area.

Update

The weather has cleared out pretty well down where I am but it is flurring and windy where the search is. There are ATV crews out now and they hope to have the helicopter flying by 2PM here. Weather should be good tonight which will allow the Helicopter to search with infrared, however the full moon and the snow will make ground search with night vision goggles impossible.
